The NEM Summit is an international conference and exhibition, organized since 2008 by the New European Media (ΝΕΜ) Initiative for all those interested in broad area of Media, Content, and Creativity. Over the years, the NEM Summit has grown to become an annual not-to-be-missed event, providing attendees with a key opportunity to meet and network with prominent stakeholders, access up-to-date information, discover latest technology and market trends, identify research and business opportunities, and find partners for upcoming EU-funded calls for projects.
Among the parallel sessions, SOMA is organizing a panel dedicated to disinformation on May 23rd, 2019.
It is now clear that disinformation has real-world consequences; globally, most researchers and policy-makers agree about the need to better understand and tackle the production of fake news, disinformation, and in general the online tactics of knowledge manipulation which undermine democracy. The session aims to a high-level discussion on the impact of disinformation and on effective strategies for tackling it, in an effort to bring together different points of view to discuss present and future actions. Furthermore, content verification tools and big data analytics strategies along with the role of factcheckers will be discussed during a panel consisting of
- Nikos Sarris, ATC, Coordinator of the SOMA project,
